Need help choosing between 2 majors: Computer Science and Marine Biology
Hello everyone! I'm a senior in HS and need help :)
Reasons for Marine: I chose marine bio because other majors didn't really feel interesting for me and when I was younger I watched these mermaid shows on Netflix and I thought It was cool working with animals and travelling but I also don't mind the lab work and researching part. I didn't really research much info about marine bio career, it was a bit of a rushed decision to choose marine bio + it did feel like the only decision at the time.
Reasons for CS: I took coding classes during covid and am also taking AP comp sci for my senior yr. I previously took computer science principles during my sophomore year. The pay for CS is really well. My dad has a job at google and seeing the google headquarters created a bigger interest for me. He does also have the option to work from home which is nice.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Double Major: I was originally thinking of double majoring in Comp Sci and Marine Bio. Marine bio was my main degree and CS was there for a fall back + the two go together in certain fields. Recently I saw that double majoring would be difficult, more expensive and might push back my graduation time.
Major/Minor 1: I thought about majoring in Marine Bio and then minor in CS but then I started thinking about the money and started thinking if I can get a job in CS with a minor incase Marine Bio didn't work well. I didn't find anything that said you could get a job in CS with a minor
Major/Minor 2: I thought about switching them and instead majoring in CS and minoring in marine bio. I was about whether or not minoring in marine bio would be useful. I didn't find anything online about minoring in marine bio.
Major: I could just major in CS and forget about marine bio. I might also choose another minor to compliment CS. Any ideas?
Thank you for reading this and hopefully it wasn't too long. I would appreciate any feedback and also know which options from the 4 you guys think is better.
