Is 35 too late to change career path?

My background is in microbiology, and I was a QC microbiologist in Pharma for awhile. I have a BS in biology, and a MS in environmental science (my thesis was in microbiology). I am married and we have a 7 year old son. Due to a combination of (now resolved) medical issues (I had a parathyroid tumor which was removed), and taking care of my formerly medically complex now healthy son, I have been in and out of the microbiology field for 4 years now.

For the past 2 years, I sort of took a deep dive interest in state politics... and even advocated and lobbied (unpaid/voluntarily) for some healthcare policies. In that time, I also got to know lots of people all over my state, and truly expanded my network. I am seriously contemplating going back and getting a Masters in Public Health, while continuously trying to find (paid) state health policy lobbying positions.

I just turned 35 on labor day. Is it too late to be pursuing this or should I just try to find another QC microbiologist position again and forgo this new dream?
