Title Insurance? Garage converted to multi-purpose room
We recently bought a house where the previous owners had converted the garage into what the agent described as a "multi-purpose room," replacing the garage door with sliding glass doors.
Our conveyancer has recommended getting title insurance - do you think it's worth it? We are also considering converting it back to the original garage setup.
Update:
- Settlement is in two weeks
- Title insurance would cover us against any unknown or undisclosed issues related to the property from the date we take ownership.
- Coundil search to confirm this is legit would cost us $450, and takes up to 20 business days.
