questions from a new store associate
i recently applied for the store associate position at a nearby cvs, interviewed, and got the job! i'm 17f, and this is my first job and retail experience. I just completed orientation today, and the supervisor just let me stay for four hours completing some of the modules in the learning hub.
i was told to come in this friday for a 7-hour shift, but i feel a little anxious about some things i have no idea about and was wondering if i could get some answers.
how does punching in/out work? so far, and including this friday, i have been told to just "ask for the manager" but when i come in to work, where will i go, and if i have belongings, where do i put them?
lunch breaks. i know that i have a 30-minute lunch break, but how are they determined? do i decide when, or is there a certain time i have to choose.
what do you bring for your lunch break? i'm looking for ideas of bringing from home lunch. not going out or buying something in store.
i've been looking for a job since september. i've been rejected from other positions due to limited availability, so my advisor from my school career center advised for me to expand my avaliabilty. this resulted in my shifts being 7 hours long every time i am scheduled to work. i am able to deal with it for now, but if i ever feel i need fewer hours, how do i ask/am i allowed to? i feel this is a stupid question, but i just find it so surprising they have me, a high school senior with extracurriculars working 3pm-10pm almost every time i'm scheduled. when i saw some other schedules from other employees, they've strictly only worked weekends or smaller hours.
that's the most of what's on my mind. if there's any tips + things i should know, that would be appreciated as well.
