Mirataz causing constant ear itching

Hey! So Pounce is a little guy, always has been, and now that he’s older, we’re really trying to get him to eat more. He was prescribed Mirataz (gel swab for ear to increase appetite), and after a few months, I noticed he was itchy his ears so much, he was falling over. I took him to the vet, and they said they saw nothing wrong with his ears, so they cleaned them thoroughly, and sent us in our way with a different appetite stimulant. That oral option didn’t work as well, so I spoke to the other vet (Internist), and he said to give him one swab a week, and clean thoroughly. I gave him one swab 4 days ago, and he’s still itching SO MUCH. Has anyone else experienced this with their cat? I feel so bad, and I just feel like I can’t clean it enough for him.
