6 Player Expansion Question

Hi Guys,

New to Catan. I purchased the 5-6 player expansion and now im wondering if it was worth it. I just ordered cities and knights and its already mentioning 5-6 players on here. Was it a total waste because i will return it in that case and get seafarers. I just wanted to make sure to play 5-6 players.
