fujimoto’s biggest failure

Nayuta’s death is by far the worst thing in Part 2. She has maybe 20 chapters of screen time, gets one chapter showcasing any depth, and then is immediately killed offscreen by a bunch of nobodies.

She isn’t a real character. She exists solely to make Denji and the audience feel bad that she’s gone, except Fuji didn’t give us any time to develop an emotional connection to her or her relationship with Denji because she’s only there for like 20 chapters. I wish her death would’ve actually meant something too, but Denji gets over it after one talk and now he doesn’t care.

The worst part of this is that Fuji has done something similar before and it was great. Himeno is introduced, we connect with her, and then she dies. The difference is that we get at least more than just one chapter to connect with Himeno and she’s not unceremoniously offscreened like Nayuta. She sacrifices herself against villains that pose a legitimate threat and her death has a lasting impact, it’s not like Aki got over it in 10 chapters.

I understand that Denji’s “food and girls” moment isn’t meant to be a good thing but i’d like to see a little development PLEASE after 190 chapters of the story?? This shit gets a little boring when nothing changes. Compare it to JJK. Could you imagine if instead of Yuji growing in response to people’s deaths, he just regressed. What would even be the point in reading? Character regression isn’t an outright bad thing but when you never follow it up with some actual growth it gets tiring and uninteresting.

Speaking of JJK, imagine if Gege did something like this. Introduced a character with the sole purpose of being killed offscreen and then not having her death leave any lasting impact. People would shit all over Gege for “horrible female characters” so i’m not sure why Fujimoto gets to get away with such an unceremonious death.

TLDR: Nayuta is a purposeless plot device. She barely has any screen time or character before she’s offscreened to make Denji go rage mode until he immediately gets over it.
