The way the Morningstar family gets treated in Hazbin Hotel annoys me.
This is not a rant about a character, but how other character treat that character.
Watching Hazbin Hotel, I get pretty irritated when other sinners underestimate and disrespect the Morningstar family. I mean, they are the top dogs of hell and they somehow don’t even recognize that. Let’s start with Charlie herself
- In the pilot, Katie Killjoy goes out of her way to antagonize Charlie, and everyone derides her plans, even though she could annihilate them in a moment.
- In episode 4, Angel Dust is somehow scared that Valentino will hurt Charlie, even though she is above him. I kinda lost sympathy for Angel in that moment: if you somehow think a bug pimp is gonna be a problem for one of the rulers of hell, then you must be blind. It also irritated me in the ending where Husk doesn’t try to convince Charlie to deal with Val even though she is way more powerful than he is.
- In episode 7, Carmilla Carmine is completely indifferent to Charlie's title, as demonstrated when Vaggie attempted to use Charlie's status to get Carmilla to aid the Hotel against Adam's attack. She only began to budge once Vaggie pointed out that this time, the Exorcists won't stop until they eventually reach and kill the rest of Hell. Even then, Carmilla only agreed to aid Charlie's defense efforts after Vaggie won her respect through a sparring match and only provided weapons, not manpower.
And this isn’t just limited to Charlie, it also happens with Lucifer. He is the ultimate demon, yet people view him as some casual acquaintance: n episode 5 of his introduction, barring Sir Pentious, Angel flirtatiously calls Lucifer "short king”, Husk is the only one to greet him normally, and Niffty runs up to him, gets up in his face and says "Hi there! I clean!" whilst giggling evilly. Even Mimzy just casually says hello. Special mentions go to Alastor, who goes out of his way to piss off Lucifer even though Lucifer could slaughter him easily. Non of them fear or recognize how fucking OP he is. It really bothers me when people refuse to acknowledge it. I mean, some guy sets himself on fire when seeing both Alastor and Zestial together and an entire nightclub stops their tracks when Angel Dust tells Valentino to fuck off, yet the Morningstars aren’t as dreaded as the Overlords. I actually found it refreshing when the angels of heaven actually acknowledge how fearsome Lucifer and by a little extension his family are.
Do Sinners not know about power scales?
