Backyard Chickens in City Limits?
The last time I'd checked, backyard chickens were only allowed in the County/outside City limits or if you were zoned as Agricultural, which requires over 10 (maybe 20?) acres.
Is that still the case? And if so, how would one go about petitioning the city to reconsider this? Start by contacting the local councilperson, I'd guess? Just wondering if any Chattanooga Natives can remember a time when it was allowed and folks had backyard hens.
I've got plenty of yard, but it's 1.5 acres and not 10...
I am not advocating for noisy roosters, but with the price of eggs being what they are, and the uncertain next however many years, it does seem like it's not a terrible idea to grow more of your own food at home when possible.
Plus, they're great mosquito killers in the summer!
