Passed Sec+ with 777

Passed my Sec+ test today with a 777! Test was a bit more challenging than I anticipated but not overwhelming.

I recently completed my Masters in Cybersecurity Technology in December (unrelated Bachelors and unrelated job) and I think that gave me a great base to begin studying. I kicked off my official test preparation about a month ago and definitely logged more than 100 hours of total study time.

My methods: Went through Mike Myers’ totalsem course on Udemy and created flash cards for unfamiliar terms which I reviewed almost daily. Also took a few practice exams on the totalsem testtaker and averaged 83%.

Utilized PocketPrep and answered all 1000 questions correctly. Adding new/unfamiliar terms to my flashcard stash. Pretty much was doing quick-10 quizzes anytime I had downtime. Took the 3 practice exams leading up to the test and did the best on these, averaging 90%.

Went through Jason Dion’s course and took his 7 practice exams scoring between 78%-92%, with average of 84%. I found Dion’s material great for supplementing missed info from Mike Myers, and it helped to get a refresher on weak topics I hadn’t been reviewing as often.

In terms of similarity to the actual exam, I found Dion’s tests to be the most similar, but it was more of a combination of his style mixed with PocketPrep. Besides my recently completed degree, I have no IT experience or other IT certifications. You can do it!
