Will the damage be reversible?

We currently have what is easily the most destructive, malevolent administration in our country's history. We are only two weeks in and the damage is mind-numbing. I don't think I have to go into details as most people in this sub are probably aware of current events. It's damaging so many aspects of our society and internationally as well.

My question is, is the damage reversible? What will it take? What functions of government will be irreversibly damaged? How far back will we go, and how many generations will we have to spend redeveloping our society?
