Texans Free Agency Preview: What To Do About Stefon Diggs And Nathaniel Dell?

Sup guys? Apparently you can't say "Tank" in the title here, which is probably a good rule. Either way, everyone here probably knows who Nathaniel Jasper "Tank" Dell Jr. is.

What we're doing here is hitting on one team every day with a little free agency speculation. Here is a quick synopsis of the weapons and below is a link to the full article which has way more detail. Let me know what you think!

QB - CJ Stroud is locked in and they gave Davis Mills a one year extension in advance so the QB position here is pretty much all set (unless Nick Caley wants to bring in a QB3 like John Wolford or something to help with scheme).

RB - Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce are both under contract though Pierce is a free agent after this season. Dare Ogunbawale is a free agent so they might need someone to help on the pass-catching front. Guys like Kenneth Gainwell and Ty Johnson are out there.

WR - This is where it gets interesting. If Nick Caley is going to run an offense like McVay, that means heavy 11 personnel with 3 WRs. Nico Collins is the split end. Tank Dell is under contract but he might miss all of 2025. Stefon Diggs is a free agent. Even if they bring Diggs back, is Nico, Diggs, and someone like John Metchie enough? What do you guys think?

TE - Dalton Schultz could benefit if they end up thin at WR. If they even bring in one target hog alongside Nico Collins though, he'll be in a pretty rough spot. He didn't do much despite injuries. They already extended Brevin Jordan AFTER his ACL to be the blocking TE so Cade Stover basically needs Jordan gone next year and Schultz to be cut in 2026 (which is realistic given they can save $11.5M with only $2.5M in dead cap).

Again, here are the links to the full write-ups that cover ALL the players deeper down the depth chart as well with a little more discussion on the contracts and the future. The WR situation really is the big one though.
