Have you ever written something that felt "too real" for the fic surrounding it?

I wrote several scenes of a fic where the MC is going through some very intense (and partially based on personal experiences) stuff. I like what I've written, structurally at least, and I feel like it's a realistic response and adds depth to the character's internal emotions and struggles, but at the same time it feels like going from those scenes back to the somewhat lighter, less grounded parts of the plot would be... jarring. I don't know what the best course of action would be. I don't want to remove it, and there's a point where simplification could flip into sounding insincere, but I also don't want to alienate a reader who may find it tonally out of place. Have any of you ever written something that's made you feel like that?
