How did I qualify for the Europa League?

I finished my first season of my Valencia career mode and finished 6th. As far as I can see I should have qualified for the Europa Conference League Play-off round, but I've somehow qualified for the Europa League League Stage as if I finished 5th.

Am I missing something or this just another classic bug EA can't be bothered fixing?
