Egress window well greenhouse
I live in zone 6b and love fresh herbs we grow during the warmer months. I’m trying to devise a way to have fresh herbs all year long. We have a fairly large egress window well that I was considering using during the colder months. I’ll obviously consider the safety of exiting in case of fire as my first priority.
If I build something like the attached image would that work well for keeping the herbs growing during the winter in my climate? I’ve read that clear plastics like this image trap too much heat, so I’d probably look for something less translucent. I’d also plan to keep a gap of 6” between the house and the cover for ventilation.
