I HATE UK changing facilities (Vent)
So to begin I’m almost totally incontinent and if I’m not at home I rely on changing facilities throughout the day. For people who don’t know the UK has something called the radar key system where people who need access to disabled bathrooms have access to a key they can use to open them. This means the general public doesn’t mess them up and they stay clean, or at least that’s how it should be.
My biggest issue is a lot of them never seem go actually get cleaned by staff and they become unsanitary and end up stinking. The nappy bins don’t get emptied and the floors often seem to be wet. This making actually changing often very challenging as I’m trying to avoid wet patches on the floor and often have nowhere to put my things etc. it might seem minor but when your changing multiple times a day it’s horrible. I’m unsure if people without keys are somehow using them or if they genuinely just never get cleaned.
I will add this isn’t all disabled bathrooms and ones with a regular cleaning schedule are often extremely clean as they get cleaned the same amount as the regular bathrooms but less people use them. If I’m in an area I’m familiar with I sort of know which bathrooms these are and I stuck to them but if they are closed for whatever reason or I’m not somewhere I’m familiar with there’s a good chance I won’t find a clean one.
Does anyone else experience this in the uk or is it just Manchester? I feel like there needs to be something done about it because it’s borderline unsanitary
