Don’t be scared to tweak your cv, companies often stretch the truth in job descriptions too.

So,I applied for a Bancassurance position with a certain bank. The role was marketed as selling insurance to existing bank customers. Yaani, the lead are already there, and they mentioned a commission of 40% on sales. Sounded pretty good, right?

I got the job, and during training, I was told I’d receive leads from the bank, actual bank customers to call & meet with. Perfect! However, after training, I spent the first few weeks just sitting at the branch doing…nothing. Then, out of nowhere, the branch manager tells me I should be going outside to look for customers. Wait, what?! I thought I was getting leads from the bank!

And the commission? Turns out it’s not 40% of your sales, but a percentage of the revenue the bank earns from those sales. You end up getting peanuts! On top of that, they cap it at 40K, no matter how much you sell. Even if you manage to generate sales worth 300K, your commission maxes out at 40K.

There were so many other petty things they conveniently didn’t to mention in the job description. This whole experience has been so frustrating.
