About anchors for the Wild method

I have been practicing the Wild Method, and from what I understand, you fall asleep with a certain level of consciousness and so you will be conscious when you are dreaming. Well, I have been trying to use an anchor that consists of counting numbers randomly, and although I fall asleep, I have not achieved a lucid dream.

I suspect that it is because I lose part of my consciousness along the way, so I would like some tips for getting more efficient anchors. If the problem is not the anchor but rather the fact that I lose concentration over time, I would like some techniques to improve my concentration.
