Using my geologist brain to save some seemingly ruined tobacco…

I opened some Star of the East flake and alas it looked to have mold on it. But using 80x Nikon plane light microscope, I discovered the mold was in fact needle habit crystals elongated on the z axis (photo 1;sugar xls??) and is not fibrous like mold (see photo 2) I am glad I didn’t throw this out. *second photo is some mold growing on a strawberry that I bought from Walmart yesterday.
