Used My $100 Promo Code

I used my $100 promo code I received for my dead battery Pixel 4a to purchase a Pixel 8a. The very next day, the phone went on sale for $100 off, essentially canceling out the benefit of my promo code. I reached out to support to ask if they could either refund the $100 difference or reissue my promo code so I could use it on something else. Unfortunately, both requests were denied. Instead, they told me I’d need to return the new phone (which hasn’t even shipped yet) and start the process all over again through support. Has anyone else experienced this kind of hassle?
