Rng manipulation starter trouble

Ive spent a few hours on this now, and got 39771 4 times following a YouTube video’s instructions. 3 times I think I genuinely messed up the steps for chikorita, but the 4th time I know I did everything according to the video… anyone else got any advice or struggles with the process?

Notably, playing on an original DS with an authentic HG cart… shooting for group a, and using eontimer and poke finder.
