Social security sent my card to the wrong address - they messed up

I gave them my correct address after my legal name change and it shows my correct address online but they sent it to a different address. They verbally admitted that over the phone. I also never got my verification letter that I ordered a few weeks afterwards. I’m deeply concerned an employee is sending my stuff to their own address or a buddy’s address. My identity could get stolen! WTF?? Twice?? I have to go in again tomorrow to restart the whole process and file a complaint in person. I can’t update my name with OHP until I get this card too!

Once is a mistake. Twice is sketchy. If it happens again I’m taking them to court. I hope there’s resources available for people in my situation for this if it comes down to this. If my identity gets stolen I’m slamming my foot down hard on them for this. I gave them correct info and it was correct on their screen when they showed me. Something sketchy is going on here. Something very sketchy.

Edit: I’m usually not that type to get angry but I fought so hard for a very long time to get where I am now. Identity theft could easily cost me everything… I have no backup or a shoulder to cry on. All I have is me and what I fought for :(

Update: had another in person appointment to redo it. Hoping it goes well this time. Filed a complaint since that was the most logical option. Less annoyed now that I’ve had time to process this but I will be watching my accounts very closely. More closely than usual
