Should I buy a laptop or a tablet?

I currently am going to community College for a Comms degree. We will be editing video and I have a fairly strong pc at my house. I have been told I should get a laptop/tablet for school by some friends. Which would be better considering I have a powerful pc. Also, what specific one would be best? Thanks!
