Ovulation spotting and now late period?

Hi, sorry this is slightly tmi but I’m panicking. so I’m 27. so I had ovulation spotting this cycle on day 14-15. Only the second time in my life I’ve ever had it. Once back in November. Doctor wasn’t concerned when I mentioned it at my smear appointment last year. It happened again this cycle. Very light, literally just spots of red blood in cm. I usually have a bang on 28 day cycle. However I’m currently 7 days late. No chance of pregnancy but I tested anyway and negative of course. Has anyone experienced this? I didn’t get a lot of egg white cm like I usually do when I ovulate so am I right In thinking my body may have been trying to ovulate but didn’t succeed? Any advice would be great. Thanks
