I hate student films so damn much.

So I live in an area where there’s many colleges that have student films coming by week after week. At first, I thought that was a great thing - I mean, you get to build up your demo reel which is great, right? Well here’s some experiences I’ve had while partaking in student films. First off, when you get a callback and you’re told to come in to the school/area for a reading - I PROMISE YOU THEY DONT CARE. If they wanted to cast you, they would’ve done that for the self tape they made you submit. More than half of the time when you get a callback, they’re just bringing in lots of actors so they have people to experiment their “casting director skills” with. They usually just end up casting an actor who already goes to the school. It’s a completely waste of time, and they really think you won’t piece together the fact that they’re just using you for practice. But let’s say you DO get a role…YOU NEVER GET THE DAMN FOOTAGE. I’m done with student films.
