Wish me luck!

It’s really hard to get the tests I need at the gyno, below is a message I just sent to her. Context: I have reoccurring vulvodynia and/ or infections and have had one of the worst flare ups for le last 2 months after taking antibiotics for strep. I have a healthy microbiome and ph level. After testing negative for: “Candida species C. albicans, C. tropicalis, C. parapsilosis, and/or C. dubliniensis can be detected but not differentiated, in the Candida species result”. And BV: “The target includes the following markers: Lactobacillus species (L. crispatus, L. jensenii, L. gassei) Gardnerella vaginalis Atopobium vaginae”

I sent this message to my gyno who is recommending I buy and try a $99 and $39 a month probiotic suppository because she doesn’t know what else to do with me.

Thank you for all of your help !

Was i not tested for mycoplasma and ureaplasma? I thought I was getting tested for everything. What about e.coli?

As For the vs-01 vaginal symbiotic suppository, do you know if it contains histamines? I’ve had reactions to other probiotics high in histamines. I usually don’t have low levels of good bacteria, my evvy test (last may) showed 81% of Lactobacillus crispatu and I typically don’t have a ph that is out of a healthy range. I had similar symptoms to what I’m feeling now at that time. I want to hold off on trying something that costs this much money that’s purpose is to increase good bacteria and balance ph (when I don’t think those things are my issue) until I can rule out AV or CV with testing because I do feel like I have an infection since my symptoms seemed directly triggered by taking amoxicillin in early November.

I’ve been doing the baking soda baths and so far haven’t that much felt relief from those but I’m going to stick with it. I’m frustrated that relief from this would only indicate I might have CV whereas a positive test could actually confirm it. There’s something called cv-ease that seems to really work for people with cv. There are ways if looking at discharge under a microscope to diagnose CV - is that something we can look into? I want to either confirm or rule things out with direct testing so that I can stop doing treatments in a trial and error fashion. Is this something only a specialist can do / can you refer me to somone who can diagnose CV?

I’m curious about the bacteria tests, I’d like to be tested for aerobic and Anaerobic bacteria and I think there’s is a panel made by something called lab corps that tests for 50+ bacteria. Is there a way for you to look into more extensive tests or have the cultures I’ve been getting been as extensive as an aerobic and anaerobic bacteria panel? My symptoms are also consistent with something called AV where it’s mostly just pain and inflammation with little discharge and no smell. I’d like to get tested for it if possible- again not wanting to choose treatments blindly anymore. If that can’t be done at your office can you help me find someone/ somewhere who can diagnose av?

I want to make sure I rule out every option with real results before I go towards the psychological approaches even though I have been in therapy and trying pelvic excersizes where I’m also just trying to deal with my pain in the meantime.

If I do order the suppository eventually, is there a way you can help me submit a claim to my insurance to see if I can get any reimbursement or is that just not something that’s ever covered?

  • I will come back with an update - thank you all for hearing me, this sub has taught me a lot about what I need to ask for.
