It’s happened! 👏🏾
The procedure went off without a hitch! We got to the hospital yesterday afternoon and got home in the early evening. My doctor and the staff were AMAZING. Warm, professional, infinitely helpful. After just 10 mins of talking with the doctor, my partner was like, “Oh she’s AWESOME!!”. If any of you are in the NYC area and your insurance works with Dr Julia Jaffe, seek her out! Her and her team are incredible. I’m a little sore but I’m comfortable and I have this incredible sense of calm. I went to pee a little while ago and it hit me that I never have to worry about pregnancy ever again. Wow - the RELIEF. I also looked down at my abdomen and I just realized that my bandages over my incisions are tiny hearts. My partner had tried to point that out to me yesterday but I think I was too loopy to understand haha.
Now, the day actually started rather sadly: my young niece passed away from complications from a long standing brain tumor/cancer that was HORRIBLY aggressive early yesterday morning. Our whole family is heartbroken. I helped to raise her. It’s a huge loss, especially because she was young (mid 20s).
If I’m being honest though, her passing made me even more solid in my resolve to get my bisalp done. And I’m so so lucky that my procedure was late in the day so I could be there to support my family and to say goodbye to a wonderful person.
Anyway, if any of ya have any questions re: my experience- my comments/DMs are open. Good luck to all on their CF journey!!!!! You are understood and loved!!!
