Wild take theory on the gods/dragons
I’m wondering if the dragons are embodiments of the gods, or are the gods. I haven’t read the book or looked into this very deeply. Just listened to the audiobooks, but knew what the dragons names meant first time listening to Fourth Wing. I speak Gaelige, which is really similar to the Scottish Gaelic used in the book. A lot of the words are the same.
Malek is their God of Death, Brennan’s dragon is called Marbh which means death. Considering Brennans signet it kind of makes it too coincidental.
Dunne is their Goddess of Strength and War. Dunne is a surname in both Gaelic and Gaelige. But it means dark one, brown, black. But Tairn is the black dragon of war and a Violet was offered to Dunne.
My wild theory is that the gods are the dragons. Rebecca pretty much said in her Onyx Storm interviews that the dragons can lie about their real names. The Emperyan literally means Sky/Heaven.
Please let me know what you think! I haven’t seen anyone else make this connection so far so it’s a bit out there 😅
