Furnace Efficiency Issue
I have a 10 year old home. Original furnace but 6 year old A/C.
I’ve noticed the furnace feels like its losing efficiency. Extended period of time to increase the temperature in the house. Even if it’s only one or 2°. But last night things got a little bit worse. Two years ago it stopped working and the control board was replaced. it started up fine after. We have a cold snap happening right now. Temperature was set at 20° inside last night at 10 PM. It was -18 Celsius outside. Temperature went down to -25 Celsius with a nasty wind putting it around -32 outside. At 5 AM I woke up and the inside temperature was 15°. The furnace was off. I powered the system down, check the filter, left it for about five minutes. Powered it all back up and it was working. It is working. But It’s been running for about 90 minutes but it’s only brought the house up 2°.
It feels like the only solution is a new furnace. It works, but she’s not very well anymore. What are your thoughts?
