maybe being delusional isn't the issue, it's the solution

🚨IM NOT A MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL. IM NOT AM EXPERT IN ANY WAY. I JUST HAD A THOUGHT WHILE HIGH🚨

I used to study theatre and something Stanislavski said really poked at me, but I only really came back to it recently after a terrible depressive episode. Basically, for his acting method, he encouraged his students to daydream constantly and even play pretend just like a kid in preparation for a role. Something something, an actor prepares, I dropped out of theatre school.

Now. A lot of us here, even in the recent posts seem to daydream a lot, and get lost in our own mind and created fantasies. And for a lot of people, that's bad, especially when it starts clashing with real responsibilities. And it can be a lot for many people here, especially those who like me, also look for approval in others instead of yourself.

But ! What if we take this habit and transform it into something helpful instead? If there's something you don't want to do, make something up! Anything! Studying for a test? You're actually an ancient wizard learning spells. Really, get into it. Put on those background noises, light a candle, get in the mindset, act! Have a fictional s/o! Who cares! As long as you remember that they're a part of yourself, there's no problem. (Please be careful especially when dealing with AI) Have those dating simulators, keep a picture of them while you do your tasks, imagine them praising you when you finally get things done.

Have control over your imagination. Use it as a tool.
