Broken clasp
The clasp on my necklace sometimes stays open and looking to get it replaced. I got a quote from a jeweler for $45 for the clasp plus labor so I figured I’ll just purchase the clasp online at a fraction of the cost and just pay the jeweler for labor to attach the clasp (labor fee $30). It’s a very sentimental necklace so I want to ensure it’s properly secured.
I read that spring clasp should not be soldered as it could damage the spring mechanism. I’m wondering what the most secure way to attach the clasp would be - is it to simply use pliers on the “can be opened” part in the photo(in which case I’ll just do it myself), to solder the “can be opened”part, or should that part be connected by attaching a jump ring?
