Is minor insurance fraud a big deal?
Was recently in an accident where the other person was at fault. Never made a police report- it wasn't that major.
We both gave our stories to our insurance company and she lied about what happened. So Insurance just called it no fault.
However after a few weeks, I learned that a nearby business caught our accident on camera. So I can prove she's lying. My question is: is the better route to take this to my insurance company or lawyer up?
My thought is- she committed insurance fraud by lying about what happened. (My assumption is that that's a big deal that the insurance company will go after her for) So she probably doesn't want me turning the video over to insurance. I'm thinking if I lawyer up and make threats- she will settle because she doesn't want to go down for insurance fraud.
(She was driving a Jaguar so I'm optimistic I might get a good deal)
Now's where you guys come in and tell me how big of a moron I am. Indulge me 👇
