Is a revolver a good option for me?
Middle aged woman here, first time considering a handgun for myself, and working on getting more comfortable with the idea. My partner thinks some kind of revolver would be a good choice since there is less maintenance, less mechanics to worry about & get flustered by, etc. I see some discussions that revolvers are more reliable, other discussions saying they're not, I don't know how to evaluate that.
I've handled automatic handguns and was really uncomfortable with the mechanics involved in using it, and the idea of a revolver being simpler sounds better for me in an emergency situation. A couple that have come up that seem suitable are the Ruger LCR or the S&W 43 for 22's being lower kickback; or some J frame .38 type (if I'm using the wrong terminology here, please be kind)
Also, I know "you get what you pay for", but any decent gun is gonna be a big stretch for my budget, so suggestions that keep that in mind are appreciated.
I'm also looking at training classes, I definitely need training for skill & comfort level, but I want to get the gun first so I'm training on what I'd be using.
