moving out after college

for context: 21F and graduating in may 2025

i go to a school out of state so i havent been living at home for 4 years and i cant see myself living at home again after college. im a photographer and its been my dream for yearsss to live in nyc and work there and ive been saving up money and looking into affordable housing. when i told my mom i wanted to move out after i graduate for reasons i think are perfectly understandable (close commute, independence, etc.) she said that she doesnt think its a good idea and is wondering why i want to move out so soon. my older brother (23M) graduated almost two years ago and is still living at home, has never worked a day in his life (i've worked multiple side jobs in college including internships) and he still does not have a job. i guess what im asking is how did anyone else convince their parents its the right decision for them to move out? my parents arent toxic or anything like that and i love them dearly but the rules they have in their house just dont work for me and i cant see myself living happily here for that long after college (prob 3-4 months max)
