5am, to feed or not to feed?
I’d be grateful for some advice regarding my nearly 7 month old. Previously she used to feed around midnight and then at 4-5am.
We were under a sleep consultant then and were struggling with EMW and her not taking her morning bottle. They recommended not to feed her at the 5am and sooth her in other ways otherwise it could become a habit wake. We followed the plan and things improved.
We moved her into her own room and she moved to just feeding once a night around 2am.
However over the last week or so that feed has moved later and later. From 2-3-4- to now 5am. However I think she is genuinely hungry? And it is her usual once a night feed that she is just potentially weaning slowly? She still takes her morning bottle when she gets up for the day and will go back to sleep for 1-2 hours post the 5am feed.
However I am worried this is the wrong thing and is the same situation as before and we should be focusing on soothing her in other ways?
- Formula fed during day and breastfed overnight
- 3 meals a day but two of these are BLW so she doesn’t eat much for these two (one purée).
- wakes at around 0615-0715.
- we seem to be in a transition time. We are on 2 or 3 naps depending on wake time/tiredness levels.
- ww for 2 naps are 2hr40/3hr20/3hr. We do have to extend the second nap with contact nap if it is less than 1 hour otherwise she cannot make a 2 nap day. She does sometimes get a bit overtired with the second wake window however if we were to do a 3 nap day on these days bedtime would end up at about 9pm.
- ww for 3 naps at 2hr15/2hr45/2hr30/2hr45
