Which TF2 mercs and Overwatch characters do you think would get along the best? (My theories below)

Scout: Junkrat

Both chronic yappers with big egos and smart mouths who try very hard to impress their teammates, and might find common ground on the fact that everyone else on their respective teams is annoyed by them.

Soldier: Cassidy

One of three characters Soldier wouldn’t be wildly xenophobic to (Soldier 76 would consider him a dangerous lunatic who commits stolen valor, and Reaper is Reaper). Cassidy would have moral issues with Soldier, but not pass too much judgement since he considers himself “not good, not bad (but sure as hell not ugly)”

Pyro: Mauga

Both of them have the same idea of a good time: Burning down everything and everyone in sight. (Bonus: They both have wildly different ways of going about it, but Doomfist would probably have some kind of respect for another guy who thinks spreading destruction makes the world happier. Also I think most of the Overwatch agents would just want to help them somehow.)

Demoman: Reinhardt

My first thought was Junkrat, but ultimately Demoman takes handling of explosives very seriously (“One crossed wire, one wayward pinch of potassium chlorate, one errant twitch...and kablooie!”) So I think he’d gravitate to the other medieval weaponry enthusiast. Demoman also has his own sense of honor (like when he saved the injured Sniper despite fighting earlier in the comics) which Rein can respect. Reinhardt probably has moral objections to mercenaries, but in the spawn room he’s nice even to the evil characters as long as they haven’t personally wronged him. They also both enjoy a good drink.

Heavy: Zarya

Kind of a gimme. Two musclebound Russians who have issues with their government but ultimately love their country, their family, and big weapons. Also much smarter than you might think.

Engineer: Moira

Moira would consider Engineer the smartest, most sensible merc, and might even respect him for cutting off his own arm in the name of science. Plus, you know she’d be gunning for that life-extending machine.

Medic: Bastion

Let’s be honest, this guy’s too much for even a good deal of Overwatch villains. Sure Moira’s also an evil scientist, but she’d probably be disgusted with this guy’s careless approach to science and utilization of blatantly unscientific Faustian pacts. But at least he’s nice to doves - which means Bastion would probably like him as a fellow bird enthusiast. And now the medic has TWO big guns to protect him.

Sniper: Genji

Genji’s an assassin, but he’s a professional with standards, who has complicated feelings but can keep them in check. Sniper probably wouldn’t want to admit it but he could relate on parental issues and growing up under expectations. As one of the good-aligned characters Genji would have issues with Sniper killing people for money, but Hanzo does too, and if Genji can have hope for him he can probably spare some for Sniper too. They also both seem to like medieval weaponry.

Spy: Ashe

A very hard one, as Spy doesn’t even get along with the mercs much. But I think he’d relate to Ashe. They both enjoy incredibly expensive things, living life to the fullest, and put up a refined demeanor - but will quickly reveal a much cruder side at a moment’s notice. Better hope Ashe never finds out how Spy treats his son after what her own parents put her through, though.
