Engineering student exchanging to UoA

Hi everyone, I'm exchanging to UoA during the spring semester of 2025 (Semester 1) and wonder if you can tell me more about the university.

I've seen that a lot of people complain about UoA on this subreddit, so I'm a bit put off, but I want hear what your experiences are and if UoA is a good fit for me.

A big reason for choosing UoA is that exploring New Zealand has been a dream for me, so I would really like to join a club and go for trips and see as much of NZ as possible.

For the social aspect It is also nice that English is a native language so I can connect with people in their mother language. But I've read here that people experience that it is hard connecting with people, saying students at UoA are pretty asocial. I assume this varies, but I plan on joining clubs so I hope that helps. What are your experiences with this?

Lastly, I also want to make sure that I learn a lot during the semester. Does anyone have any experience with the courses I'm taking this semester? I would like to know if the quality is good and if they are hard:
