How Soon Do We Move?

My husband just received orders for a PCS to Elizabeth City, NC, from our current station in Hawaii. His report date is March 9, 2025.

We're trying to plan our move and wondering how soon before the report date we should aim to relocate. I'm hoping to give my employer early notice to start applying for new jobs out there.

He was going to ask his YN's once he got back to work, but he's off for the next week, so any advice or insights on the typical timeline for PCS moves would be greatly appreciated.

Side question: He's swapping from EM to AMT and will be going to A-school 3 months into his new billet, so we're curious if anyone knows if he'll be allowed to live off-base during A-school, considering our upcoming station there, or if he will have to stay in the barracks
