Prose Style in College Application (HELP)

Hello, I am applying to college for fall 2024 and one creative writing supplement asks that I write a 1 page "short story" about a film/TV viewing experience that had a long-lasting impact on me, specifically that it is, "Written in prose (i.e. short story, not academic essay)."

What exactly does this mean? I know what prose is but I'm still sort of confused. Can I use first-person? Does there have to be dialogue? Does a prose short story mean I am supposed to write it as if it is happening in the present? Also, what would make it too similar to an academic essay? Am I overthinking this -- can a prose short story be a reflection on the past from my present self?

I have an idea of what I'm going to write, but I don't know how to go about it technically. Someone help!

Thanks :D
