Differences Between EMT-B and Paramedic Treatment for Pneumonia?
Hello, I'm hoping this is the right place to ask this question, what are the major differences between both levels of treatment? I've done some research but I'm not confident in the answers I've found. Can I get further clarification?
EMT-B Treatment includes:
1) Airway support
2) Providing Supplemental oxygen
3) Use of Albuterol/ bronchodilator if allowed by local protocols
4) CPAP (Watch out for contraindications)
5) Sepsis Alert
6) Monitor SPO2 and rapid transport
Paramedic Treatment include:
1) Administering IVs for fluid resuscitation
2) Nebulizer + Albuterol/bronchodilator (Bronchospasm)
3) CPAP/BiPAP (Watch out for contraindications)
4) Endotracheal intubation for severe respiratory distress/unconscious patient (watch out for ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP))
