Master content in the Portal is fun as hell, but even if I'm completing it while under 300PL, doesn't it make sense that I should still be rewarded with T3 gear instead of T2?

Edge of Fate has a power-leveling problem, but it's not as dire as you think, and it's most likely not going to impact the vast majority of players.
